Slipping Out of Tune

  • Original Writing
  • Song
It’s a song that keeps
Slipping out of tune —
Every time I find harmony,
A dissonant hand
Drags across the strings.
But still,
I keep playing

My song keeps
Slipping out of tune,

Each time I find the chord,
A rough hand scrapes
Across the strings —

But I don’t stop strumming.

The melody fractures again —

Harmony found,
Harmony stolen.

Yet through the noise,

I remember the
Shape of the song.

And so I play.
